Patient Information

Your First Visit

Scheduling

Call our main office to schedule an appointment Monday through Friday.

To plan your schedule, please know that an initial or complete exam takes ½ - 1 hour but times may vary. Both eyes are dilated for complete exams, laser vision and cataract and retinal evaluations. Your eyes will remain dilated for about 3-4 hours because of the types of drops used. Please bring sunglasses with you.

Cataract Consultation

If you are coming in for a cataract consultation please inform our front desk when making an appointment, we will email you an informational educational video so that you can bring any questions with you to the office on the visit.

We also encourage family members to accompany you especially if your sight or hearing are affected to ensure you understand everything being discussed regarding your eye condition and also a precaution because your eyes may be dilated.

What You Need to Bring

To decrease the amount of time prior to your appointment, we recommend that you complete the new patient exam forms and bring them with you on the day of your exam.

Please bring your insurance card, any authorizations required, and a list of all prescription medications, your current glasses and any relevant old records. If patient is a minor, a parent or legal guardian must be present at initial visit.

Your Privacy

We value and protect the privacy of your medical information in accordance with the Federal HIPAA Guidelines.

Cancellations

Please be considerate of our patient/doctor time when unable to keep your scheduled appointment; kindly give 24 hours notice. Failure to do so may result in a fee.

What to Expect at Your Visit

Your exam will begin when our ophthalmic assistant or technician performs a history, checks your vision, glasses, intraocular pressure and visual fields. Based on the specific reason(s) for the exam, other tests may be performed. The doctor will then see you to evaluate test results and examine the health of every part of your eye. The doctor will determine if there are any medical problems, a need for glasses, or change in prescription. Citrus Valley Eyecare doctors are dedicated to educating patients about their specific eye conditions. We want you to leave with a complete understanding of your eyes along with treatment options if necessary or desired.

Billing and Insurance

Prior to your visit, patients are responsible for obtaining any needed referrals or authorizations required by your insurance company. Our policy is to require payment of all co-pays and deductibles at time of check in. Your medical insurance covers medical health issues affecting your eyes like cataracts and diabetes.

Vision plans like VSP, Eyemed, and MES cover exams specific to how your eyes see with glasses and or contact lenses.  Please note that Medicare and some other insurance do not cover eyeglasses.  If you are a Medicare patient without vision insurance there will be a discounted fee you have to pay.
